Burk's Falls & District Historical Society
“Discover the past the Burk’s Falls and District Historical Society. Go back to school at the Wiseman’s Corner Schoolhouse in Ryerson Township, complete with desks, chalkboard, and an antique bell. Then, step into another era at the Watt Century Farmhouse in Armour Township, a re-creation of an early 1900s-homestead. See Burk’s Falls through the eyes of those who settled here over 125 years ago.”

The Burk's Falls Armour & Ryerson Union Public Library first opened on January 20th, 1896!

We are almost 130 years old! (Turned 127 in January 2023)

The Library was once located in the rear of Mrs. Dan Wilson's Millinery Store (south of the former pharmacy) and above the former Fire Hall!

Local authors have library cards here and visit regularly!

Former Reeve and MPP Stan Darling had visited the Library and donated his book: "The Darling Diaries"!

As of 2018, we have our entire Newspaper Clippings Collection on a digital hard drive!

Our Library is equipped with a Microfiche filled with newspaper articles of Births, Deaths and Marriages spanning multiple decades. We also have maps of the area and books with information families that have visited or settled within the region!

Minutes
Library Board Meetings happen once a month throughout each year. All meetings are documented and information is recorded for legal purposes. They record all topics of information covered such as the meeting agenda, financial statements, budgets and decisions for the Library. These are called "Minutes". Observe as Library meetings progress through time from 1956 to present!
